Security to be Beefed up in Karbala During Shabaniya Celebrations

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A spokesman for the police department of Karbala, Iraq, said security measures would be enhanced in the city during Sha’baniya celebrations next month.

According to Noon website, Ala Al-Ghanemi said the police have been taking precautionary measures since the start of the month of Rajab (June 4).

He added that the police department of the holy city of Karbala has designed a broad plan for protecting the security of the pilgrims during the month of Rajab and Sha’ban.

“Currently, the security situation in Karbala is quite all right, but we have predicted appropriate measures for any possible incidents and crises.”

Sha’bania celebrations, which are held on the 15th day of Sh’aban on the Hijri calendar (this year July 17), mark the auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).
